Brent Rutemiller becomes
an MLC Honorary Life Member

 

Mediterranean 11.05.2024. The Mediterranean Lifesaving Confederation (MLC) proudly announces that the former President/CEO of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, Brent Rutemiller (USA), became an Honorary Life Member.

Brent Rutemiller was the Publisher of Swimming World MagazineSwimming World Biweekly, and Swimming Technique Magazine. He was also the President and CEO of the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF). He studied International Marketing, Strategic Mgt. and Organizational Behavior (Western International University), Secondary Education, Business Education and Business Law (Northern Kentucky University), Marketing and Business Admin (Eastern Kentucky University). He authored 3 aquatic related books/programs. He has been Swimming Coach for the USA Swimming National Team (1995) and 5 swimming clubs, winning 4 State Team Championships and 2 USA Swimming National Championships, and producing multiple undefeated seasons, state qualifiers and 3 NKSL Summer League Champions. He has been the Delegation Head of Arizona Special Olympic (1995-2022), President of Arizona Swim Foundation (2001–2003), and Board Member of Phoenix Parks and Recreation (1988-1990). He has been honored 10 times for his contributions, including 3 awards in Halls of Fame, USA Swimming, American Swim Coaches Association, College Swim Coaches Association, National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, USA Swimming Disability Committee, and Eastern Kentucky University.


Rutemiller, commented about his recognition: “Thank you for the recognition of becoming an Honorary Life Member. The saving of lives in water is a universal need. The MLC is an excellent organization that uses sport to further the skills necessary for fulfilling that need. The culture created by MLC will naturally promote teamwork, camaraderie, and physical fitness; all of which are essential elements of a professional Lifeguard. It is a brilliant concept to use sport to practice real-life situations through a competition. I am proud to be a member and thank you for the honor!

The MLC President, Giorgio Quintavalle and the MLC Secretary General, Dr Stathis Avramidis, said on this occasion: “Brent Rutemiller has been a champion in family, voluntary and professional activities! He has a rare combination of talents that allows him to formulate innovative ideas to promote and market swimming. He takes an idea, turns it into a project, builds a team around it, and brings it to fruition. His knowledge and use of technology and social media have been modeled throughout the aquatic industry. Brent has developed strategic relationships with governing bodies worldwide. Wherever he was, he created a culture of teamwork, high standards and ethics. We are proud to enlist him among our finest, because his example is what the MLC needs to flourish!
