Mediterranean experts met at the ILSE Commission Meeting

 

Athens, Greece 15-17/02/2024. Delegates of the Mediterranean basin discussed the prospects of operating the Mediterranean Lifesaving Confederation (MLC) during the Commission Meetings of the International Life Saving Federation (ILSE).

At the occasion of the ILSE Commission Meetings, the MLC leadership, Giorgio Quintavalle (President), Dr Stathis Avramidis (Secretary General) and Isabel Garcia Sanz (European Vice President), met and discussed current and forthcoming issues about the operation and evolution of the confederation. These included the communication and promotion among current and new members, that by constitution operate lifesaving sport in their countries, the orchestration of the 1st Mediterranean Lifesaving Championships and administrative issues.

The MLC leadership met several experts and organization representatives from Mediterranean (Serbia, France, Israel, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Italy) and non-Mediterranean countries (Germany, UK, Ireland, Norway, Belgium). They had numerous discussions and explained the current and incoming steps for this Mediterranean initiative. The general impression was very positive and everyone seems to realize the importance of developing lifesaving sport among the Mediterranean nations. Photos: MLC.
